Publishers Skystone Games have got not one, but two titles to unveil for consoles and PC line-up this year. There’s Surgical Scalpels’ gravity-defying shooter, Boundary, and Stonebot Studios’ much more light-hearted doggo-loving action game, The Last Friend.
Launching in the Summer of 2021, Boundary is set in an alternate near-future timeline where the Space Force is more than just a Netflix TV show, as it explores space combat like never before. Taking the best aspects of first-person shooter mechanics, while adding in Zero-G movement, developers Surgical Scalpels aim to create a new visceral experience for players keen on competitive shooters. Prepare to battle over the remains of space stations or solar arrays on maps that literally defy gravity.
The Last Fiend is a completely different experience entirely, delivering a fast-paced hybrid of the beat ‘em up and tower defense genres. The premise here is that the world is now in an apocalyptic state, and while all hope appears lost, there is nothing better than best friends as company; especially when it’s an army of immensely loyal canine companions. Yes, an army of super-powered dogs are brought in to help you drive back the violent mutants and gangs of the apocalypse. And that’s expected to arrive in Spring of 2021.
This means Skystone Games have now built a strong and diverse game portfolio featuring five games, with more still yet to announce. The addition of the highly-anticipated Boundary to their lineup gives Skystone one of 2021’s most anticipated games in a global market. Not satisfied with resting on their laurels, they are actively still on the lookout for new studios and games to publish.
“It is our goal that Skystone Games will become a premiere developer-first publishing studio for many years to come,” said CEO Bill Wang. “We believe in the independence, ingenuity, and passion of today’s game development studios, and we cannot wait to show everyone the kind of surprises we have in store for 2021 and beyond.”
